Top 10 Movie Stunts

Top 10 lists will be a list of 10 movies that will be published once a week and will either have to do with a movie coming out that week or just what I want to do at the time.

With no good list to do based on movies coming out this week (none of the Fantastic 4 actors have enough movies on their resumes and I just did a superhero list recently), I’m basing this week’s list off of Mission Impossible Rogue Nation again.  This time I’m focusing on the best movie stunts (videos included!) because of the plane scene.  Does that one make the list? Find out below.

Disclaimer: I am only including stunts in movies I’ve seen to be fair.  I am not including any that I have just seen in clips, as great as they are.  I am doing ones that I have gotten the full effect of.  Also, the numbers are fairly arbitrary in this list.  All of them are great and I can make a case for all of them being higher.

10. Car Flip- Casino Royale

This stunt set the record for most flips (7 I believe, at high speeds).  It was incredibly dangerous but made this chase memorable in the best Bond movie yet.

9. Chase Scene- Ronin

One of the best chase scenes of all time, this contains more stunts than I can count (in a movie full of them).  It must have take hundreds of stunt drivers.  Between dodging oncoming traffic and pedestrians and wrecked cars, it’s pretty insane. It’s also incredibly intense and entertaining.

8. Truck Flip- The Dark Knight

I believe the first time ever attempted in movie history, they flip a whole 18 wheeler in this stunt.  And it’s pretty fantastic.

7. Indy Dragged Behind the Truck- Raiders of the Lost Ark

The whole chase is great but the best stunt is Indy falling under the truck and being dragged behind it (6 minute mark of the video).  All done practically by a very brave stuntman.

6. Train Fight- Skyfall

Besides the tunnel, those are actually the two actors fighting on top of a moving train.  No stuntmen, no green screen.  And therefore, it definitely deserves a spot on this list.

5. Hallway Scene- Inception

Another scene done with the actors that took weeks of planning.  Done with a real rotating set that they built.  It’s a great scene and a better stunt.

4. Climbing the Burj Khalifa- Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise is literally a crazy person.  Actually doing this stunt (and another on this list) proves that.  While he was supported by more cables that were deleted afterwards, I’m pretty sure most of us still wouldn’t do it.

3. Hood Surfing- Death Proof

The only person crazier than Tom Cruise is the stuntwoman performing here.  Why don’t they slam on the breaks and stop and let her off? I don’t know but it’s a great scene because of it.

2. Plane Scene- The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan seems to have found a place on this list.  All of the scenes outside the plane were actually done in midair (destroyed the plane and everything) justifying it being on this list.  Oh and they did it twice…

1. Hanging Onto a Plane- Mission Impossible Rogue Nation

Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise again.  This time holding onto the side of a plane as it takes off and flies through the air.  He did this one more than 7 times.  Just incredible.

Honorable mentions: Final Race in The Fast and the Furious, Window Jump in Bourne UltimatumChase Scene in Bullitt

Tell me which ones I missed in the comments.
