The Purge: Election Year
Honestly, my first reaction when seeing this trailer was released was “holy crap they are making another one of these?” It’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’ve actually enjoyed both of the previous movies. I wasn’t sure there was anywhere else they could go with it but the trailer proved me wrong. It looks like another strong and interesting premise in this series I originally thought was going nowhere. The whole idea of “The Purge” is interesting in itself so it isn’t surprising they keep expanding on it. This one brings back Frank Grillo, who was by far the best part of the second movie as the conflicted cop. I definitely don’t have a problem with them making another movie, especially since they are moving in a different direction. I think the trailer gives away a little too much, but am still interested in and excited to see this third installment. Check out the trailer below:
Super Bowl Stuff
People who aren’t interested in sports stuff or are non-American readers may want to skip a few lines because I’m going to start by commenting on the game. I’ve been a huge Broncos fan my whole life, so it was a pleasure watching them win. I didn’t believe we would do it until right there at the end, but I’m glad we pulled it out. It was also great to watch what may be one of the greatest defenses of all time shut down the high-powered Panthers offense. Anyway, this is a movie-related site so I’ll get back to it. I won’t do full reviews on the trailers because that would be fairly pointless on little mini TV spots. But I will say that I am very much looking forward to Independence Day 2 (even though it’ll probably be terrible), the surprise Cloverfield sequel spin off thing, and Jason Bourne, which we got our first look at on Sunday. I’m a big fan of the Matt Damon Bourne movies so I’m highly anticipating his return to the franchise.
Let me know what you think of the trailers (or the game if you want to talk sports) in the comments.
