Game of Thrones Season 6 Review

Well I’m finally all caught up.  And honestly I’m a little disappointed.

I’m not going to bother summarizing the whole season am just going to jump right into my thoughts.  First, some things I liked.  I’ll start with those last 2 episodes because they’re great.  The whole season culminates with those and it’s very enjoyable.  There are some awesome battle scenes and some great plot twists. In fact, the whole season had a few decent twists and turns.  For the most part, I enjoyed being back along for the journey of our characters.

My biggest problem with this season is that the first 8 episodes are a little boring.  Without the previously mentioned moments in the plot, they wouldn’t have been all that interesting.  This wasn’t one of those seasons where I couldn’t stop watching.  It took me a while to get through all these episodes.  Most of the other seasons have some buildup and then some payoffs throughout the season, but this one was more just buildup to the final 2 episodes.  This season wasn’t bad by any means.  It was just a lot slower than the previous 5 seasons were.

I’m keeping this kind of short to avoid spoilers for those who aren’t caught up yet. To sum it up, this season isn’t quite up to par with past seasons, but isn’t bad by any means.  The last 2 episodes alone make it worth watching.  It also left me very excited for the next season.  I haven’t ever really given a score to TV show seasons before, but I’m going to try for this one.  Season 6 of Game of Thrones gets an overall score of 3.5/5.
