I’m not sure what’s worse, the fact that I was supposed to do these weekly and haven’t done one in a month, or the fact that this was supposed to be released on Halloween… which was almost a week ago. Anyway, here’s the second edition of my favorite movie scenes, this one coming from a very recent movie.
upon us past us, I wanted to keep with the theme and look at a scene from a horror movie. There’s lots to choose from, but I decided to go with one from a recent movie that I loved and a scene that has stayed with me ever since I saw it. The new version of IT has plenty of great and terrifying scenes but when Georgie meets Pennywise in the sewer is probably my favorite. It feels straight from the book and is about as intense as it gets. You know what is going to happen but don’t quite know when or how. Like he does with Georgie, Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise draws us in and makes us feel comfortable, cracking jokes and making introductions. Georgie knows something isn’t quite right the whole time, but is too naive to do anything about it. This version of Pennywise is as charming as he is terrifying and it shows from early on in this scene. This scene is one reason why IT is one of my favorite movies so far this year. Here it is (no real spoilers if you haven’t seen the movie). Anyone want a balloon?:
