We finally got some official casting news about the new Bond movie, as well as a synopsis. Daniel Craig returns for what many expect to be his final movie in the role as the MI6 agent. Rami Malek was finally confirmed to be the villain, after months of rumors. Many other characters from the Daniel Craig era also return. Here is the official cast list from MGM:
The most exciting part to me, besides the fact we are getting another Daniel Craig Bond movie which has featured the 2 best movies of them all in Casino Royale and Skyfall, is Rami Malek. He’s a very strong actor and I’m excited to see what he might due in a villainous role, especially after Cristoph Waltz was mostly wasted as Blofeld in Spectre.
We did not get a title with all this news, but we did get the official synopsis:
“Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”
That’s about as vague a synopsis as we could have gotten, and really doesn’t move the needle much for me in terms of excitement. I’ll reserve more judgement until we get a little more from this movie.
Bond 25 is set to release April 3, 2020.
