It really shouldn’t be this hard to make another great Alien movie.
Alien Covenant is the follow up to the disappointing Prometheus with both being prequels to the original Alien. It follows a group of people heading to colonize a planet. During their journey, they make a stop to investigate a distress call (stop me if you’ve seen this before in an Alien movie). As they always do when people do dumb stuff like that, bad things happen and we have a reason to see the iconic Alien back on screen.
Somehow the most unbelievable thing about this movie that involves a rapidly growing alien life form found in the dirt on Mars attacking a bunch of astronauts is the fact that NASA held a contest that let a bunch of elementary school kids name the alien.
Life is about a group of astronauts, most notably played by Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and Rebecca Ferguson, who find a dead alien life form in soil samples from Mars. Because humans are stupid, they decided to try and bring it back to life. Obviously this doesn’t go well and we have our movie… which is basically Alien.
Top 10 lists are back in a big way with the greatest movie villains of all time. This is obviously due to the release of Suicide Squad this weekend, a team-up of supervillains. The way it is being reviewed, the movie may have needed one or two of these guys to help out.
With the surprise Cloverfield sequel, reboot thing coming out this weekend I’m looking at the best monster movies. What’s my criteria for a monster movie? Honestly I have no idea. These were just the ones that came to mind that featured “monsters” of some kind.
Top 10 lists will be a list of 10 movies that will be published once a week and will either have to do with a movie coming out that week or just what I want to do at the time.
Well it’s finally Star Wars week guys, so expect a bunch of Star Wars related content over the next few days. I’m kicking it off with my Top 10 Sci-fi movies. I’ve never really considered myself a big science fiction fan, but after making this list I’m reconsidering that self-evaluation. This is one of the hardest lists I’ve put together so far. That’s why there are so many honorable mentions. That list is long but distinguished (high five to anyone who can complete the Top Gun quote in the comments). Qualifiers for this week: Because I didn’t want to take up 7 of my spots with 3 Star Wars movies, 2 Alien movies, and 2 Terminator movies, I am including whole series in one spot. It’s kind of cheating I know, but it’s my list. Also, I’m leaving out superhero movies and more fantasy-related movies. Those are lists for another time. Let’s get to this one.
