I’m throwing another curveball at you this week.  Despite teasing Top 10 Westerns at the end of last week’s Top 10, I decided I needed to watch more of those before compiling that list.  So instead I’m going with something very different- Top 10 Rescue Movies, with Chris Pine’s The Finest Hours coming out this weekend.  My criteria for this list was pretty simple; any movie that I see as a movie involving a rescue of some sort.  Some notable movies are missing.  For example, you won’t find Die Hard on this list, something I’m sure will shock all of you since I usually don’t miss an opportunity to put Die Hard on any list. However, I’ve never viewed that as a rescue movie despite the fact that it technically would be.  Anyway let’s get to the list:

The second end of the year list is here as it is time to lay out my favorite movies I saw in 2015.  There a couple of notes about the list that I want to get out of the way before we get started.. The first is that when I go to the movies, I want to be entertained.  Some people take movies a pure pieces of art, others take them as entertainment.  I’m much more on the latter half of that and my list reflects that.  They might not be the deepest movies or the ones that will win all the awards, but they are the ones I enjoyed the most.  The second note is that the score I gave a movie when I reviewed it does not matter when it comes to this list.  Thoughts on movies change as time passes and I rewatch them.  Also, while The Revenant and The Hateful 8 have been in limited release, they are not out where I live so I have yet to see them. So while they might deserve spots on this list, you won’t find them on here. As with my worst movies list, you can click on the title of any movie on the list to read my review. Here we go:

Top 10 lists will be a list of 10 movies that will be published once a week and will either have to do with a movie coming out that week or just what I want to do at the time.

Well it’s finally Star Wars week guys, so expect a bunch of Star Wars related content over the next few days.  I’m kicking it off with my Top 10 Sci-fi movies.  I’ve never really considered myself a big science fiction fan, but after making this list I’m reconsidering that self-evaluation.  This is one of the hardest lists I’ve put together so far.  That’s why there are so many honorable mentions.  That list is long but distinguished (high five to anyone who can complete the Top Gun quote in the comments).  Qualifiers for this week: Because I didn’t want to take up 7 of my spots with 3 Star Wars movies, 2 Alien movies, and 2 Terminator movies, I am including whole series in one spot.  It’s kind of cheating I know, but it’s my list.  Also, I’m leaving out superhero movies and more fantasy-related movies.  Those are lists for another time.  Let’s get to this one.

Top 10 lists will be a list of 10 movies that will be published once a week and will either have to do with a movie coming out that week or just what I want to do at the time.

In honor of the (hopefully) last Hunger Games movie coming out this weekend, I’m doing this week’s Top 10 list on movies that were based in some capacity off books.  There were a couple qualifiers.  I am forcing myself to only choose movies that I knew were based on books at the time of watching them, or shortly thereafter.  So as much as I’d like to put Die Hard on the top of a list for like the fourth time, I didn’t know it was based on a book until fairly recently, far after I had originally seen it.  I am not, however, forcing myself to pick movies based on books I have read because at that point, the list would end up being approximately 2 movies. Anyway, let’s get to my picks.
